Notes for Contestants

1. Please note that ALL competitors must be in possession of an all-events convention registration and Wristband attached to your wrist in order to be eligible to compete. This applies to each quartet member and each chorus member. We will be checking competitor wristbands so please have your wristband on your wrist when you enter the backstage area. Registrations can be purchased on-line.

2. Quartets please note that pre-contest stage time for you will be Friday afternoon after the sound check which occurs from 2:00-3:00 PM. Quartets will each have 3 minutes on stage. The DVP-C&J (or his representative) will have a sign-up sheet available by the stage area at approximately 1:45PM. Stage tests will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once it appears that there are no more quartets interested in testing the stage and those on the sign-up list have completed their stage tests, the pre-contest stage time will end.

3. QUARTET EVALUATION NOTE: If your quartet is interested in an evaluation session on Friday night after the contest, please recall that you must reserve an evaluation spot PRIOR TO the beginning of the contest on Friday evening. If you don't specifically ask to be scheduled for an evaluation session with the judges your quartet will not be included in the evaluation schedule. No-show quartets who signed up for an evaluation will be billed $20, which will go to the MAD YIH program.

4. The riser configuration (5, 7, 9 or 11) will be firmly determined once all the entries have been received and the entry deadline has passed.

5. The District Contest and Judging V-P will determine if there will be Pre-Stage time for the Chorus Competitors based on the number of entries and all choruses will be notified no later than 15 days prior to the event if there will be any Pre-Contest Stage time at this convention.

6. There is no deposit required for chorus evaluations (coaching sessions), however, if your chorus is not planning to attend the chorus evaluations (Saturday afternoon), please let C&J VP Gary Plaag know that prior to the contest so that we don't schedule your chorus for an evaluation. Chorus evaluations/coaching sessions will be 60-minutes for each chorus (20-minute sessions with each of 3 judges (MUS, PRS, SNG)). Because these are coaching sessions, be sure your chorus members know to stay for the evaluation/coaching session. Coaching sessions without a full or significant representation of your chorus, will be less effective.

7. Videos and CDs can be purchased via the MAD Website. CDs can be picked up following your session at the sound booth; Videos will be posted on the MAD Website.

8. As was announced recently by Executive VP Ig Jakovac via email, there will be no photo room at this event. Photos will be taken from the stage during the performance. Choruses/Quartets desiring a posed photo at the end should tell the stage manager as you enter the stage to compete.

9. The Barbershop Extravaganza will consist of (at a minimum of the following) the 1st place quartet, Two songs (not to exceed 5 minutes) 2nd place quartet, Two songs (not to exceed 5 minutes) and all chorus plateau champions (A, AA, AAA and AAAA) will be invited to perform one song each (total stage time per group not to exceed 5 minutes). The Events V-P and District President reserve the right to invite other participants as necessary at their discretion.
